Why education and skills are the key to the future
Promoting youth skills is one of the most important tasks of our time. It is not only crucial for the personal development of young people, but also for shaping a sustainable and inclusive society. Education opens doors, boosts self-confidence and gives young people the opportunity to shape their own lives and actively participate in shaping their society.
The challenge of education worldwide
Young people all over the world need access to high-quality education and vocational training in order to develop their talents. However, countries in the Global South in particular often lack basic resources: school furniture, teaching materials and well-trained teachers are often in short supply. Overcrowded classrooms and outdated teaching content make it difficult for children to reach their full potential.
The figures are alarming: according to the United Nations (UN), over 600 million children and young people lack basic literacy and numeracy skills – even though two thirds of them go to school. Closing this gap requires a global commitment that makes education accessible to all while promoting modern teaching methods.
The key to a better future
Well-educated young people are not only the basis for their own future, but also drivers of social progress. Studies show that targeted support for young people can increase the income of society as a whole by up to 12% (source: German UNESCO Commission, 2014).
But the task does not just begin in the classroom. Teachers and trainers also play a central role. Their qualification is crucial in order to implement innovative learning methods and provide students with the tools they need to meet the challenges of the modern world.
Together for a better world
Each and every one of us can help young people develop their potential – whether by getting involved, supporting educational projects or promoting equal opportunities in our own community. Education strengthens solidarity and opens up perspectives that extend far beyond the classroom.
Let us remember every day how important it is to give young people the skills and opportunities they need for a sustainable and just future. Together, we can create a world where no young person is left behind.
Education is the basis for self-confidence, solidarity and progress – and a promise for a better future.
